đ§ MSFS 2024 Setup
A parent sets this up once. Then your pilot can focus on flying!
âī¸ Use These Settings First!
Ask a parent to set these up once. Then you're ready to fly!
- Turn ON the Taxi Ribbon â it shows you where to drive on the ground.
- Turn ON Takeoff Help and Landing Help â MSFS guides you gently.
- On the ground: twist the stick to steer (rudder). Not left/right!
- In the air: move the stick gently. Small moves!
- Stuck? Pause the game and look at Quick Help on this app.
Where to Open Controls
For parentsFind the Controls menu in MSFS 2024 to see and change your bindings.
- 1From the main menu, click Options (gear icon).
- 2Click Controls on the left side.
- 3You will see tabs like Keyboard, Mouse, and your connected devices.
- 4Pick your sidestick or throttle from the device list at the top.
- 5Scroll the list to find actions like RUDDER, THROTTLE, and FLAPS.
đĄ You can also open Controls from the in-game pause menu during a flight.
Find Your Joystick & Throttle
For parentsMake sure MSFS 2024 sees your Thrustmaster sidestick and Logitech throttle quadrant.
- 1Plug in the sidestick and throttle quadrant before starting MSFS.
- 2Open Options â Controls.
- 3Look at the device dropdown at the top of the screen.
- 4You should see device names â they may say Thrustmaster, T.16000M, HOTAS, Logitech, Saitek, or similar.
- 5Move the stick or throttle â the highlighted row in the list shows which device is active.
- 6If a device is missing: unplug it, plug into a different USB port, restart MSFS.
đĄ Windows also lists devices under Settings â Bluetooth & devices â Devices. MSFS should match what Windows sees.
Check Auto-Assigned Profile
For parentsMSFS may pick a controller profile automatically. Confirm it matches your hardware.
- 1In Options â Controls, select your sidestick from the device list.
- 2Look for a profile name near the top â MSFS may show a preset like "Thrustmaster" or "Generic".
- 3Move the stick forward, back, left, and right. Watch which rows light up in the control list.
- 4Twist the stick â RUDDER or YAW should respond (important for taxi!).
- 5Select the throttle quadrant and move each lever. THROTTLE and FLAPS rows should light up.
- 6If the wrong rows light up, MSFS may have the wrong profile â try manual binding below.
đĄ A good sign: stick pitch/roll works in flight AND twist controls rudder on the ground.
Manually Bind Controls (If Needed)
For parentsIf something does not work, assign it yourself. Then update this app's Parent Setup to match.
